Shadow of War added to Shadow of Mordor by adding new game features and making the nemesis system bigger. The nemesis system creates orc characters automatically for players to fight and recruit. Compared to the last game, this one has more funny parts, and the five areas were made to be bigger and more colorful. The game’s settings were based on the natural beauty of eastern Washington, Alaska, and Iceland. As before, Troy Baker came back to do the voice of Talion and also directed the motion capture for the game. Alastair Duncan as Celebrimbor, Laura Bailey, and Pollyanna McIntosh are some of the other actors in the group.
The game was announced in March 2017 and came out on October 10, 2017, for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One all over the world. The reviews for Shadow of War were mostly positive, though not as positive as those for its predecessor. Some reviewers said the game felt too big because of its microtransactions, story, and scope, while others said the gameplay and better nemesis system were great. When it first came out, Shadow of War was the most popular video game in the US. After the game came out, Monolith kept it going with free patches and two story add-ons.
