War, the first Horseman of the Apocalypse, is accused of breaking the holy law by starting a war between Heaven and Hell. He did this because bad forces tricked him into ending the world too soon. After a bloody battle, the evil forces beat the heavenly armies and claimed the Earth for themselves.
When War is brought before the holy Charred Council, he is charged with crimes and has his powers taken away. Being shamed and about to die, War is given the chance to go back to Earth to find out what happened and punish those who are to blame. War is being chased by angry Angels, so he has to fight the forces of Hell, make uneasy agreements with the demons he is after, and travel across the destroyed remains of Earth to get revenge and be righted.
